Welcome to the family website of the Newrys of the Bahamas.  This site is an extention to an ongoing Newry anthology project that stretches from South America, the Bahamas, North America and the Caribbean.

This website is an abridged version of the "Newry Bahamas: a Bahamian family" book that is available for purchase.

The website is a preface to a larger chronolgical printed anthology project that goes into great detail providing birth and death certificates/various other family records regarding the history of the Newry family, their arrival to the Bahamas,  their early settlement and their immigration north to the United States and Canada.

Outside the United Kingdom and the United States of America, the Bahamas  has the largest population of people with the surname Newry.  Currently, the Bahamas has the largest population of Newrys of African descent.

The Newry book contains maps, graphs, charts, biographies, and various records about the Newry family, and explains how members of the Newry family affected the landscape of this region.
